Dear Nathan, or should I say “Muffin Man”?
I got your resignation letter, and wow, what a ride it’s been, huh? Straight talk – I’m going to miss our wild ride of “work trips” and the crazy times, both in the courtroom and out. Remember those so-called business trips? I can’t help but laugh thinking about us trying to mix legal talk with whatever adventure we were on. I mean, discussing case strategies by the poolside or over a fancy dinner halfway across the globe was definitely one for the books. It wasn’t all typical lawyer stuff, but man, did we make it work in our own way. We made legal briefs, exciting again, and we sure bent the rules of what “working” means, didn’t we?
Indeed, Nathan, aside from the courtrooms and legal briefs, we navigated the complex waters of exotic locales and sumptuous hotel lobbies. From courtrooms to bed rooms, our
meetings, set against the backdrop of distant destinations, were always productive – though perhaps not in the ways our peers might assume. Even with those late-night brief reviews, we managed to blend the line between loopholes and mostly play, if you know what I mean. It’s been one heck of a partnership – more like a rollercoaster. We charted the course of legal precedents while setting new records for “team bonding.”
Your letter’s making me think back on all that – the good, the bad, and the outright hilarious. It’s been unconventional, to say the least, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the heck out of it. Life’s too short for just dry law talk and endless paperwork, right? So, as you step away, I just want to say – from one partner in crime to another – thanks for the memories, the laughs, and especially the “extra curricular” activity. We’ve made a pretty unique team, and that’s something I won’t forget anytime soon.
I accept your resignation not with a heavy heart but with a treasure trove of memories from our high-flying, globe-trotting days. Our legal battles were intense, but our retreats from the frontline were equally vibrant. Inside and outside of those legal briefs, we found a dynamic that was unconventional, to say the least, but undeniably exhilarating. As you move on to your next chapter, remember the journey with a sense of fun and accomplishment.
We may have stretched the boundaries of conventional attorney-client dynamics, but in the process, we created a slew of unforgettable memories. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors, legal or otherwise. May your life be as rich and eventful as our most extravagant business trip.
To cap it off, I’ll be raising a glass of Grey Goose tonight – to all the good times, the crazy times, and everything in between. Here’s to us, Nathan, my forever Muffin Man, and to whatever comes next. May it be just as memorable. Take care and all the best,
Fani Willis,
D.A. Fulton County
