PERSPECTIVE: Ryan Webb's Triple Transformation - An Act of Courage on The Path to Self Identity

"It is unfortunate that I cannot be given the same space and respect to explore my identity that so many of those targeting me demand for themselves" Ryan Webb

Picture this: a standard-issue straight white male, Republican county councilman Ryan Webb, wakes up one day and decides he's a lesbian woman of color. Sounds like the plot of a Saturday Night Live skit, right? Well, buckle up because this is exactly what unfolded in Delaware County, Indiana, and it’s even more absurd than it sounds.

Webb's Facebook announcement, dripping with the authenticity of a last-minute photo opportunity of Joe Biden at The Southern Border, declared his newfound identity: “It is with great relief that I announce to everyone that I identify as a woman and not just any woman but as a woman of color as well.” He followed this revelation with a philosophical gem, “I guess this would make me gay/lesbian as well, since I am attracted to women.” Mind you, not a single hair was out of place, nor was there a wardrobe overhaul. Webb looked exactly the same in his "before" and "after" photos.

For those counting, Webb’s new identity scorecard reads: straight white male to lesbian woman of color, all without changing a thing except his Facebook status. Despite his conservative views remaining intact, Webb insists he's a bona fide member of the LGBTQ+ community. His wife, Brandy, and their six children are now part of this brave new world where definitions are as fluid as Webb's newfound self.

At an April 25 county council meeting, outrage predictably ensued. Transgender activist Charlize Jamieson, who might have appreciated the new ally, instead saw through the ruse. “If he were serious, I’d sing his praises,” Jamieson lamented. But alas, Webb’s history of anti-trans sentiments and penchant for misgendering were deal-breakers. Even so, Webb revels in the support he's receiving from around the country, delighting in the discord he's sowed.

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Webb further solidified his standing as a lesbian woman of color who loves his wife. It’s the kind of logic that makes your brain do somersaults. When pressed about his Native American heritage, which he claims via his great-grandmother, Webb explained this ancestry is the keystone of his "woman of color" identity.

Perhaps the most remarkable part of this coming out party is Webb’s name change from “Ryan” to “Ryan,” pronounced the same but now apparently embodying a whole new gender and racial identity. It's the kind of subtle transformation that would make Clark Kent proud.

Webb’s most profound declaration came during an interview with local broadcaster Dale Jackson. “The biggest hang-up they had was the fact that I wasn’t requiring anyone else to play along,” Webb confessed. “I fully acknowledge my own delusion of identifying as a woman of color, but I will not ask you to participate in my delusion.” He makes it clear: he's living his truth and doesn't care if you join him in his Wonderland. In the land of identity politics,

Webb’s story is a testament to the chaos that ensues when everyone gets to create their own reality. It’s the ultimate parody of our times—a straight, white, conservative male claiming the mantle of a lesbian woman of color. The irony is rich, and the satire writes itself. Webb’s saga underscores one fundamental truth: in a world where identity is self-declared, the lines between sincerity and satire blur into oblivion.

So, to everyone on the left, sorry, but this is your bed. You’ve made it, and now you must lay in it. Rejecting anyone's truth is against the rules of the game you created. In Ryan Webb’s world, where he is everything and nothing all at once, the absurdity is the point. And therein lies the brilliance of this satirical spectacle.
