April 20, 2024. The House of Representatives has approved sending $60 billion to Ukraine for its defense against Russia’s invasion. This is in addition to the $119 provided previously.

In a stunning display of political pageantry, the House of Representatives transformed into a sea of blue and yellow following the passage of a bill that pumps another $60 billion into the "proxy playground" of Ukraine. It's a spectacle that would make even the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade blush with envy, complete with its own balloon—inflation!

The Representatives decked out in vibrant Ukrainian flags, waved not just fabric but perhaps a subtle white flag at domestic issues. Critics argue this could be the most expensive pep rally in history, where the cheerleaders are our elected officials and the spirit sticks are taxpayer dollars.

Imagine the scene: as the gavel struck to mark the bill's passage, it wasn't just a sound of order, but possibly the "cha-ching" of a cash register. One could almost hear the lawmakers chanting, "Who needs healthcare, when you can fund warfare?"

On one hand, supporters of the aid package argue that it’s a noble endeavor, aiming to support democracy abroad in the face of adversity. On the other, skeptics might suggest that if throwing money at problems solved them, then surely the war would have ended by now, possibly concluded by a lavish closing ceremony featuring all participating countries and a live concert by Bono.

Lawmakers continue their parade around the Capitol, possibly rehearsing for a new event at the next Olympics: synchronized flag-waving. Who knows? With enough practice and financial backing, they might just bring home the gold, if not for fiscal responsibility, then at least for creative use of textiles in a legislative setting.

As American taxpayers watch the flag-waving fiesta in the House, many are scrambling to find the 'foreign aid' category on their tax software. taxpayers nationwide are wondering how to itemize their contributions to the "proxy playground" of the Ukraine.' It seems the only real tax break they'll get this season is a break from reality, pondering whether the government will accept thoughts and prayers as legitimate currency on their next IRS return.

Turbo Tax asking how many dependents you have?

So, as our representatives wave their flags with vigor, one must wonder: is this a signal of international solidarity or just a really expensive way to avoid fixing potholes? Either way, it’s a grand spectacle—because if there's anything that can distract from domestic problems, it's a good old-fashioned flag parade.

Enjoy the movie.
