America Last: The Biden-Harris Administration's Misplaced Priorities

Updated: Oct 14, 2024

The devastation left by Hurricane Helene has ravaged entire communities, serving as a stark reminder of the misplaced priorities—or outright neglect—of the Biden-Harris administration. In a pattern all too familiar, those affected by this deadly storm are left scrambling for aid while the federal government's focus and resources are directed elsewhere. And by elsewhere, I mean Lebanon, Ukraine, and a long list of foreign nations and migrants.

This week, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken proudly took to Twitter to announce that the U.S. would be providing $157 million in humanitarian assistance to Lebanon. Yes, you read that correctly. Just as American citizens are losing homes, businesses, and loved ones to Hurricane Helene, the administration is shipping hundreds of millions abroad. But this isn't an isolated event—it's the continuation of a disturbing pattern of the Biden-Harris administration prioritizing foreign aid and open borders over the needs of Americans.

A Litany of Misplaced Aid

In fact, the U.S. has sent billions in security and humanitarian aid to other countries just this year alone:

$24.4 billion to Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February 2022.

$11.3 billion to Israel.

$1.95 billion to Ethiopia.

$1.6 billion to Jordan.

And the list goes on.

Meanwhile, American victims of Hurricane Helene—who have lost everything—are being handed a paltry $750 by FEMA. That's right: as our government gives away billions to foreign countries, our fellow citizens in need are being insulted with what amounts to spare change.

To put it in perspective, the projected damage from Hurricane Helene is estimated to be around $34 billion, with property damage alone costing up to $26 billion. Yet, FEMA is warning that it’s facing a "dire cash crunch". How is it that there’s always money for those who cross our borders illegally and other countries, but barely a trickle for American citizens ravaged by natural disasters?

Prioritizing the World Over Americans

The Biden-Harris administration has consistently demonstrated that its first concern is not the American people. Whether it's sending billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine or spending billions more in housing and the sheltering of migrants through government agencies. It's clear that this administration values foreign aid and open borders over the needs of its own citizens.

Incompetent Leadership

Let’s be honest: it's not just about reckless spending. It’s about a total disregard for American lives. In the wake of a catastrophic disaster, effective leadership and a rapid, coordinated response are critical to mitigating the impacts and restoring public confidence. That’s not what is happening. The aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 storm and caused

catastrophic flooding in North Carolina and Tennessee, has revealed significant gaps in the federal response. From inefficient resource distribution to a lack of leadership, the response is a glaring example of how rapidly disaster management can crumble without decisive direction and strong, visible leadership.

Desperate residents of western North Carolina, ravaged by the storm, are relying on volunteer rescue efforts and their own survival skills instead of waiting for the Biden-Harris administration to get its act together. It's estimated that more than 1,000 people have died, and the death toll could rise to over 2,000. Survivors are still in dire need of water and other essential resources. This disaster has already claimed countless lives, and those who remain are not being sought after with the urgency they deserve. When American citizens are in peril, the federal government should be all hands on deck, deploying every resource possible to save lives and rebuild communities. But instead, we’re watching the administration squabble over insufficient disaster relief funds while sending billions overseas.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas acknowledged FEMA’s dire financial straits, admitting that the agency “does not have the funds to make it through the [hurricane] season.” We must ask ourselves, how did we get here?

The Forgotten Americans

Let’s not forget what this administration has done, or rather, what it has failed to do. While Hurricane Helene’s victims are left to pick up the pieces of their lives with $750, migrants who have entered this country illegally are receiving thousands every month to pay for shelter, food, medical and other types of support. And this isn’t a one-time event—

Ohio, Hawaii, and now Western Carolina and Tennessee, have all suffered from this administration’s failure to prioritize Americans in times of disaster. This isn’t about partisanship—it’s about common sense. Americans deserve a government that puts them first. Instead, we have an administration that seems more concerned about Ukraine’s defense and Lebanon’s refugee crisis than it does about its own citizens suffering from hurricanes, wildfires, and other disasters.

Where Does It End?

The tragedy of Hurricane Helene should be a wake-up call to every American. This November, we aren’t just voting in another election—we’re voting to reclaim our government from an administration that has lost touch with the people it’s supposed to serve. The Biden-Harris administration has squandered billions on foreign countries, illegals, and ideologies that put American citizens last. And as a result, Americans are paying the price—whether it’s through economic devastation, natural disasters, or simple neglect.

It's time to hold those in power accountable. It’s time to demand that the American people become the priority once again.

As Blinken, Mayorkas, Biden- Harris scramble to patch up the world, they’ve abandoned their post at home. Their failure to prioritize Americans in their time of greatest need is not just an oversight; it's a dereliction of duty.

Final Thought: Will America’s Voices Be Heard?

The Biden-Harris administration has proven time and again that their priorities do not lie with the American people. Hurricane Helene’s victims—and countless others who have been neglected by this administration—deserve better. They deserve leaders who will stand up for them, rebuild their communities, and allocate resources where they’re needed most: here at home.

It’s time for Americans to ask themselves one simple question: How much longer will we allow our own needs to be cast aside for the sake of political agendas abroad? The time for accountability is now.

Disclaimer: A Call for Unity in the Face of Government Neglect

As you read this article, please understand that the criticisms expressed are not rooted in political bias but in a deep concern for the well-being of our fellow Americans. The recent disasters—the train derailment in Ohio, the fires in Maui, and the devastation caused by hurricanes in the Carolinas and Tennessee—do not discriminate based on political affiliation, race, or background. These tragedies remind us that, in times of crisis, we are all human and deserving of help.

Yet, as we witness billions being spent on endless wars overseas and the rapid influx of immigrants entering the country, it’s hard not to wonder whether those in power have the best interests of the American people at heart. The government’s failure to prioritize its own citizens in times of desperate need is a betrayal of the very people who voted for them.

We can and should be a compassionate nation, extending a hand to others in need around the world—but only after we ensure that our own people are taken care of first.

I urge readers, regardless of political affiliation, to set aside differences and unite in holding our leaders accountable. Let’s elect those who will put Americans first, who will act with compassion and urgency when disaster strikes at home.

In the meantime, let us also take action. Please consider donating to relief efforts, volunteering your time, and praying for the victims of these disasters. And while we pray for our leaders to find wisdom, let us work together to ensure that they act on it, putting the needs of the American people above all else. Only then can we truly extend our help to others across the globe.
